Visited: San Giorgio Maggiore

Saturday 2 October 2010

Cross this one off the list. Today I visited the pair of lighthouses at the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.

The view from the bell tower of Palladio’s church. In the middle of the picture is one of the two identical short towers built of Istrian stone in neo-classical style. The towers mark the ends of a barrier wall protecting a dock, now used for mooring yachts.
